Grenville Engineering Takes on Unilathe in Charity Football Match for NSPCC
Last night saw a fantastic show of team spirit as Grenville Engineering went head-to-head with Unilathe in a charity football match held at Newcastle College. The event, organised by Martin Bradbury at Unilathe, supported JCB’s ongoing fundraising campaign for the NSPCC which aims to raise an incredible £2 million by the end of 2025.
The initiative marks a double milestone: JCB’s 80th anniversary and 40 years of dedicated support for the NSPCC. With fundraising launched in 2023 and running through to 2025, every event like this one helps bring that goal closer.
Grenville was proud to support the cause, fielding a diverse squad of apprentices, shop floor operators, office staff, and directors. The team battled the elements with great spirit, and while the final score read 6-0 to Unilathe, the evening was all about community, camaraderie, and raising money for an important cause.
Sales Director Stuart Rawlinson, who played in the match, commented:
“It was a brilliant evening, despite the weather! Everyone gave it their all, and it was great to see so many from both companies stepping up for such a worthwhile cause. On the same day the Lionesses returned home from the Euros, it felt fitting to celebrate the power of football to unite people. Well done to Martin and the Unilathe team for organising such a fantastic event.”
We’re also delighted to share that a total of £1,000 was raised from the match. Players contributed £300 on the night, and the directors of both Grenville and Unilathe kindly pledged an additional £350 each to round up the total — a brilliant joint effort in support of the NSPCC.

We’ve proudly worked with JCB since 1985; a relationship built on trust, shared values and a commitment to doing things right. Earlier this year, we were also proud to sponsor the jerseys for JCB’s NSPCC Sportive cycle challenge, another fantastic event helping raise funds for children’s services across the UK.
A huge thank you to everyone who played, donated or cheered from the sidelines. We’re sure there are a few sore legs today, but it was well worth it!
