Protect Yourself from Impersonation Scams
At Grenville Engineering, the security of our customers, suppliers and partners is a top priority.
We have recently become aware of fraudulent activity involving lookalike email domains designed to mimic our official communications. These impersonation attempts are sophisticated and are intended to appear credible.
We are actively monitoring the situation and working with the relevant authorities to report these domains.
How the Scam Works
- Fraudsters register domain names that look almost identical to ours. This may involve:
- Replacing a lower case “i” with a capital “I”
- Adding an extra letter
- Making subtle spelling changes to the word engineering
These emails may:
- Use the names of genuine Grenville Engineering employees
- Replicate our email signatures, logos and branding
- Initiate legitimate looking engineering enquiries to build trust
- Attempt to arrange false meetings or appointments
- Ultimately request sensitive information or financial details
The intention is to create confidence before making a fraudulent request.
Our Official Email Domain
Authentic emails from Grenville Engineering will only ever come from:
@grenville-engineering.co.uk
Any variation from this exact domain should be treated with caution.
How to Verify Authentic Communication
Please remain vigilant and follow the guidance below.
1. Check the Spelling Carefully
- Inspect the full sender email address, not just the display name. Look for swapped letters, additional characters or subtle variations.
2. Bank Detail Changes
- We will never notify you of changes to our bank details via email.
- Any request of this nature should be treated as suspicious and verified independently.
3. Call to Confirm
- If you receive an unusual request, contact Grenville Engineering directly using our official office number: 01782 577929
- Do not use phone numbers provided within a suspicious email.
If You Receive a Fraudulent Email
If you believe you have received a fraudulent or suspicious email:
- Do not click any links
- Do not download attachments
- Do not reply
Forward the email to:
report@phishing.gov.uk
The National Cyber Security Centre has the authority to investigate and take down malicious websites and domains.
