Upgraded Apparel Work Benches for the Materials Handling Sector

We recently partnered with a long-standing subcontract specialist in the materials handling sector to transform an existing apparel workbench design we had previously manufactured. The aim was simple but important: improve comfort, workflow, and replenishment efficiency for operators working in fast-paced packing environments.

Our design team began by stripping the concept back to its essentials. Working closely with our partner, we examined how the original bench was used on a day-to-day basis and identified where small changes could deliver meaningful improvements. The result was a completely updated model that meets the demands of modern packing lines.

One of the biggest enhancements was the introduction of electric height adjustment. This gives operators the freedom to set the bench at a comfortable working level throughout the day, supporting wellbeing and reducing strain during repetitive tasks. When comfort improves, accuracy and consistency naturally follow.

Another key refinement focused on workflow. We redesigned the rear shelving section to allow packing materials to be replenished from behind the bench without interrupting the operator. This simple change helps maintain a steady workflow and reduces downtime across the line.

Once the design was finalised, our fabrication team brought the concept to life. Each component was produced in-house using our laser cutting capabilities, followed by bending, welding, and assembly by our skilled engineers. The benches were then sent to our trusted finishing partner for professional powder coating, ensuring a durable and high-quality surface suitable for daily use. Finally, the completed units were delivered directly to the site, ready for installation and immediate operation.

This project highlights the value of collaborative problem-solving and precise fabrication. By combining our partners’ operational insight with our engineering and laser cutting expertise, we delivered a smarter, more efficient, and operator-centred solution for the materials handling sector.
