Investing in Engineering Apprenticeships: Harry Completes His Level 3 Plate Welder Qualification
We are proud to congratulate Harry on completing his Level 3 Plate Welder Apprenticeship, an important achievement that reflects his hard work and commitment over the past few years.
Harry joined Grenville with an interest in engineering and has developed into a skilled and valued member of our welding team.
Throughout his apprenticeship, Harry has combined college learning with practical experience on our shop floor. Working on genuine customer projects has allowed him to develop his skills while gaining an understanding of the quality, accuracy and consistency required within a busy manufacturing environment.
Under the guidance of his mentor, fabricator-welder Adrian Wright, Harry has learned to interpret engineering drawings, prepare materials, follow welding procedures, and produce high-quality welds across a range of applications.
Adrian’s experience, time and support have played an important part in Harry’s development. Passing on practical knowledge between experienced team members and apprentices is vital to maintaining manufacturing skills for the future.
Harry’s apprenticeship experience
We asked Harry about his apprenticeship journey and what he has enjoyed most about developing his engineering career at Grenville.
What motivated you to pursue an apprenticeship in engineering at Grenville?
“I became interested in engineering during high school and further developed it in college. After six weeks of work experience, I was excited to join Grenville as an apprentice.”
Were there any ‘aha’ moments where a complex engineering concept suddenly made sense?
“At the start, downhill welding was challenging. After weeks of practice, it suddenly clicked.”
What has been your favourite memory or experience during your apprenticeship?
“One of my favourite memories at Grenville has been participating in the charity football match.”
