Production MIG Welder
Grenville Engineering is recruiting an experienced Production MIG Welder to join our manufacturing team in Stoke on Trent.
Established for over 40 years, Grenville Engineering is a successful sheet metal fabrication company with a strong track record as a local employer. As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced welder who can work accurately, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
The Role
As a Production MIG Welder, you will work within our busy production environment, welding fabricated components for customers across a wide range of industries.
The role will include periods of higher volume jig work, so candidates should be comfortable carrying out repeat production welding for sustained periods when required.
Your responsibilities will include:
• MIG welding mild steel up to 12 mm thickness
• Working accurately from engineering drawings
• Measuring components and working to specified tolerances
• Using hand and air tools safely and competently
• Completing production paperwork accurately and keeping documentation tidy
• Working closely with the wider production team
• Supporting other production activities where required
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for an experienced MIG welder who takes pride in producing consistent, high quality work.
Candidates should have:
• Good experience in MIG welding mild steel
• The ability to read and work from engineering drawings
• Good measuring skills and attention to detail
• Experience working to manufacturing tolerances
• Confidence using hand and air tools
• The ability to work effectively within a production environment
TIG welding experience would also be advantageous.
Additional Skills and Higher Rates
Pay will be determined by experience and capability.
Candidates who can TIG weld stainless steel may be eligible for an enhanced hourly rate.
Higher rates may also be available for experienced candidates who can fabricate bespoke or complex small batch components from engineering drawings and complete fabrication work from start to finish.
Weld Test
Successful candidates will be required to demonstrate their welding skills by completing a practical weld test before starting employment.
This may take place during the interview or at a separate, pre arranged date and time.
Pay
Competitive rate of pay, dependent on experience and skill level.
Enhanced rates are available for candidates with additional TIG welding and advanced fabrication skills.
