Why Subcon 2026 Continues to Deliver

The exhibition may have finished,

but the conversations are only just beginning.

A couple of weeks on from Subcon 2026, we’ve had time to reflect on another successful event and, more importantly, follow up the many conversations that have continued long after the NEC doors closed. Those discussions have reinforced exactly why Subcon remains one of the most valuable dates in Grenville Engineering’s calendar.

While Subcon may be one of the smaller manufacturing exhibitions in the manufacturing calendar, being a show directly for subcontractors, it continues to prove that quality is far more important than quantity. The visitors we meet aren’t simply browsing, they’re actively looking for solutions, exploring new partnerships and searching for reliable subcontract manufacturing suppliers who can support both current and future projects.

This year’s exhibition was no exception.

Over the two-day event, the Grenville Engineering team spoke with companies from a wide range of industries, discussing everything from prototype development and laser-cut components to complex fabricated assemblies and complete manufacturing solutions. The common theme throughout almost every conversation was the need for a dependable fabrication partner with the capacity, capability and experience to deliver.

We’re delighted to have returned from the show with a strong pipeline of new enquiries. Even more encouraging, we’ve already signed several Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), allowing detailed discussions to begin on a number of exciting new projects.

For companies looking to outsource manufacturing, finding the right partner is about far more than price. It’s about confidence, technical expertise and knowing your supplier can support projects from concept through to completion.

At Grenville Engineering, that’s exactly what we offer.

Our complete fabrication solution brings together…

… all under one roof. This integrated approach enables customers to simplify their supply chain, reduce lead times and benefit from working with a single trusted manufacturing partner.

Manufacturing Relationships Take Time

Unlike exhibitions focused on products, Subcon is centred around engineering services and subcontract manufacturing. That means conversations don’t always become orders overnight.

Many enquiries are the start of long-term relationships.

In fact, one conversation we had at Subcon 2017 has only recently come to fruition. That single introduction has developed into a customer relationship worth almost £1 million of business this year.

It’s a reminder that exhibitions like Subcon are about much more than immediate sales. They provide the opportunity to build trust, understand future requirements and position ourselves as a long-term engineering partner.

Stuart Rawlinson Reflects on Another Successful Show

“Our aim at Subcon has never been to come away with an order book full of immediate work,” said Stuart Rawlinson, Sales Director at Grenville Engineering.

“There’s real value in getting away from emails and Teams calls and having proper conversations. Exhibitions like Subcon give us the opportunity to meet people who are actively seeking engineering support, discuss their ideas in detail, and show them what Grenville Engineering can offer. It’s also a chance for visitors to meet the people they’ll actually be working with, which helps build confidence from the very beginning.”

Looking Ahead to Subcon 2027

The success of this year’s exhibition has reinforced why Subcon remains such an important event in Grenville Engineering’s calendar.

We’re pleased to confirm that we’ve already secured our stand for Subcon 2027 and look forward to returning to meet existing customers, develop new relationships and showcase the latest investments in our manufacturing capabilities.
