Congratulations to Nick Wilshaw – Production Manager for 25 years of service
Date you started? Background – industry experience and qualifications
I Got the Engineering Bug from my Father who was in the Trade all his working life as a sheet metal worker. I loved to watch him making things and was always asking questions on how he did this and that and I was always one of those who loved to mess and take things apart to see how they were made and how they worked! Started in the Engineering Sector at the age of 16 @ Staffordshire Public Works, Victoria Road Hanley as a YTS Trainee for around 12 months. Moved with my then Mentor Dave Marlow to Rafferty Industrial Chimneys , Sneyd Hill , Small Thorne where I started and finished my 4 years City & Guilds Apprenticeship. I carried on at Rafferty’s for the next 3 years learning , developing and building my knowledge of the trade while undertaking another 3 years of night courses @ College studying AutoCAD , CNC Programming and Advanced CNC Programming which are also under my belt!
Why did you choose Grenville?
My brother had worked at Grenville for a few years prior to my opportunity of a job here arriving so I guess for that reason I had my eye on the Grenville Ball for a few years on and off? Then one day (all those years ago in a galaxy far far away!) BANG! here I was! I Started @ Grenville 23/01/1995 @ the age of 24. I call it fate and the money increase had nothing to do with it? B–ls–t! Never the less here I am 25 years on! They do say that liking where you work is Half the battle? I agree! A great Company with Great and solid leadership at the helm , has its ups and downs like most but I’ve liked working here from the day I walked in!
What is the best part of your job and any highlights over your 25 years at Grenville?
My highlights have been able to be a part of Grenville’s growth throughout the years and to be a part of that whether its hands on the tools or not! The new faces and the new state of the art Technology introduced to aid the growth and sustainability have always impressed me and I love being a part of Grenville’s Continued Success! Oh and the MD is a great guy too!
